Woodbury, NJ – Today, the Steve Sweeney for Governor campaign is launching a website, “Mikie Took The Money,” to shine a spotlight on Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill’s history of taking money from Elon Musk and anti-union groups, enriching herself while in office, breaking the law by concealing suspicious stock trades from the public. Sherrill faces tough questions from her voters about where her loyalties lie and whether she can be trusted to stand up for working people – not MAGA millionaires and billionaires.

The website covers a myriad of topics, calling into question Sherrill’s record and commitment to the working- and middle-class people of New Jersey, including:

During her runs for Congress, Sherrill accepted donations of up to $31,500 from an Elon Musk-funded PAC. When asked whether she would return the money, she refused because she “already spent it,” and only returned the money after Steve Sweeney called her out.
Since taking office, Sherrill’s wealth skyrocketed according to her own financial disclosures, with the lowest estimates showing the value of her assets TRIPLED while in public office – with some estimates showing she may have increased their value by over 500%.
A group supporting Sherrill’s campaign accepted money from Associated Building Contractors, one of the most aggressively anti-union groups in the country, making her the ONLY Democratic candidate who received the group’s support.
The other candidates they supported? Jack Ciattarelli and Bill Spadea.
Sherrill was fined for violating the Congressional STOCK Act, which bars lawmakers from making stock trades based on non-public information afforded to lawmakers as federally-elected officeholders.
